Our neighbor to the West is the great cheesemaking family, the Callahan's. Cindy (mom), Liam (son) and Diana (Liam's wife) help make this creamery extra special with a lot of family care and love. They are making fabulous cheeses using sheep milk from their own herd as well as Jersey cows milk from a local dairy just a few miles down the road in Valley Ford, California. When you think of happy cows (& sheep) of California, you are thinking of Bellwether Farms. Western Petaluma provides a picturesque view with all the cows, sheep and some goats dotted along every hill as far as the eye can see.
 
I have been fortunate enough to work with this great family for years selling their cheese and I am a huge fan in more ways than one. We love all of the Bellwether products; Carmody, Pepato, San Andreas, Crescenza, Creme Fraiche, Fromage Blanc and Ricotta . The new and exciting product is the sheep milk yogurt! My favorite is the blackberry. Other flavors are blueberry, strawberry, vanilla, and plain. I hear some new flavors are in the works.... You can find the yogurt in many specialty stores in California. The other fine cheeses are available for mail order or you may find them at your local cheese shop around the country.
